DVD drives not showing up (Windows 8.1)

ISSUE:

DVD drives not showing up. Error occurred in Windows 8.1

Error in device manager: Drivers could not be loaded or corrupter - Error 39


SOLUTION:

1. Find the Class Guid of the DVD drive(s)

2. In registry navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>Current Control Set>Control>Class

Find the device(s)'s Class ID and delete the Upper and Lower values

3. Restart

DVR machines port forwarding

ISSUE:

I had an issue when trying to forward the IPs of three DVR machines.


SOLUTION:

I solved this issue by assigning a different TCP port to each machine.

Outlook 2007 does not open

ISSUE:

Outlook 2007 fails to open.


SOLUTION:

Run this command: Outlook.exe /resetnavpane

BIOS update fails on Desktop Board DQ35JO

ISSUE:

BIOS update fails on Intel Desktop Board DQ35JO (Fails to flash the Intel Management Engine).


SOLUTION:

1. Reset CMOS by removing the motherboard battery.
2. Replace the battery and then correct the BIOS time and date.
3. Go to Intel ME tab in BIOS and set a new password (default pass: admin).
4. While in windows, in CMD type: CO96510J.86A.xxxx.EB.EXE -s -a force user admin pass password -s

"CO96510J.86A.xxxx.EB.EXE" was my BIOS update executable.

ISSUE:

Intel Desktop Board DQ35JO failed to initialize SATA HDD


SOLUTION:

Upgraded BIOS to latest version

Several applications fail to start

ISSUE:

Several applications fail to start or display error messages related to Spool Service. This is caused because many applications initialize printers before loading. Printers use the Print Spool Service, and in case that service is disabled for a reason, then Windows fails to load the printers.


SOLUTION:

Run a virus scan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware and Trojan Remover. Then manually disable and re-enable the print spooler service

iTunes fails to load on Windows XP

ISSUE:

iTunes fails to load on Windows XP.


SOLUTION:

Disable "Bonjour Service"

AVerMedia TV card configuration resets on domain profile

ISSUE:

AVerMedia TV card configuration resets on domain profile.


REASON:

The domain profile's My Documents folder (were AVerMedia TV Card saves the configuration file) was located on the Server. AVerMedia's software was set by default to save the configuration file in My Documents folder locally.

SOLUTION:

Log in locally with the Administrator's profile, configure AVerMedia's software and then copy the configuration file from the local My Documents folder to My Documents folder of the domain profile on the server.

Intel Management Engine Interface - Service Name Already Exists

ISSUE: 

When installing the Intel Management Engine Interface driver you get the following error:


Windows  found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting  to install it.

The  name is already in use as wither a service name or a service display  name.


Operating System: Encountered on Windows 7 N


SOLUTION:

1. Delete the following file if it exists: 

c:\windows\system32\drivers\heci.sys

2. copy the following registry modification in a notepad file, save it with a .reg extension and run it as administrator:

4. The installer might say that the driver is not compatible. Close the installer

5. Go to Device Manager and try to update the driver by choosing "Browse my computer for driver software", then click "browse" and navigate to "Program Files/Intel Desktop Board/open the next folder/HECI/" and choose the driver that appears in that folder.

6. Install that driver. You might get an error that this driver is not compatible but ignore it and proceed to install the driver.

ISSUE:

Screen starts flickering when launching PowerPoint 2010

Operating System: Windows XP

SOLUTION:

Delete or rename the following file: C:\Windows\System32\d3d9caps.dat

Might need administrator rights to be deleted or renamed. Run command prompt as administrator
